UNITE Haircare backstage for Hernan Lander NYFW A/W 2013

UNITE brought together stylists from salons across the United States to work NYFW with UNITE lead artist Paul Merritt for the Hernan Lander Show in Lincoln Center. The A/W 2013 collection was comprised of a mixture of textures such as leather and lace within the same piece. This concept was reflected the hair that Paul and Hernan worked together to design. The underside of the hair was coated with LIQUA Versa-Gel and heated with a dryer to create a solid sheen with a hard texture while the top portion was backcombed for height and pulled back using only MAX-CONTROL Hairspray for a more natural finish. The dual textures were inspired by "plastic and suede". The final pony was then transformed by applying TRICKY Spray Wax for a nice sheen, twisted and sewn into the nape leaving an open space it the middle. The remaining hair was then left in a natural state with slight sepation again resembling the duel textures within the Hernan Lander collection.
